Kenaf Stalks: A Green Solution for Waste

In 2022, a client from Malaysia reached out to ThoYu through social media, seeking a sustainable solution to manage the large amounts of agricultural waste generated during the production of kenaf ropes. Specifically, the company faced challenges with the processing of kenaf stalks, which are light weight and low in density.

Due to Malaysia’s stringent environmental regulations, businesses must sort and recycle waste through designated channels, making it imperative for the client to find a green solution to manage this agricultural byproduct.

After thoroughly assessing the client’s needs, ThoYu’s team decided to visit Malaysia in March 2023 to further understand the situation and explore potential solutions.

A Productive Visit to Malaysia

The visit proved to be both insightful and productive. ThoYu’s team toured the client’s kenaf plantation and held in-depth discussions at their Kuala Lumpur office. The local government’s active promotion of sustainable development aligned perfectly with ThoYu’s values, and the client responded positively to the proposal focused on turning waste into valuable resources.

After the initial visit, the project was temporarily halted, but we remained in touch with the client throughout.

Project Revival: A Breakthrough in October 2024

In October 2024, the project took a positive turn when the client contacted ThoYu again, requesting an updated quote and expressing interest in restarting the project. ThoYu quickly provided the new quote and requested the raw materials to begin critical testing. The business team also sent detailed documentation to ensure everything was prepared for the next steps.

By May 2025, ThoYu received the kenaf stalks from the client. At the same time, the client decided to visit ThoYu’s company and factory to witness the production process firsthand.

Efficient Testing and Immediate Results

The client planned a 3-day visit to ensure the collaboration proceeded smoothly. ThoYu’s factory, known for its high efficiency, completed the testing in just one day, with highly favorable results.

Coincidentally, ThoYu had a set of custom-made kenaf stalk molds from a previous project for a U.S. client, which perfectly matched the Malaysian client’s requirements. This allowed immediate testing, further accelerating the process.

The client expressed satisfaction with the performance of ThoYu’s equipment and praised the company’s professionalism after the successful face-to-face meeting.

Sealing the Deal: A Long-Term Partnership

The following day, both parties finalized the project details, and an agreement was reached. The client mentioned that they would further consult with their team upon returning home. The final order is expected to include two production lines, with the client eager to establish a long-term partnership.

The project will not only help address waste management issues but also promote the pallet production initiative in Malaysia, ultimately benefiting both parties.
